Upon arrival at the RedHawk Residence it is apparent the home has been designed by a top tier architect. The beautiful modern design has been perfectly placed to see the views of the entire Park City valley.  The home is a wonderful example of bringing the outside in with floor to ceiling windows that make you feel like you’re part of the view. Expansive deck space, allows the homeowners to enjoy the perfect summer weather. Flat roof construction ties in beautifully with the architecture and prevented the home from overpowering its surroundings.  Interior Design and Cabinetry were tastefully selected to accentuate to the architecture and details of the home.  Indoor outdoor livings space, landscaping and modern barn/garage complete scene.  Efficiency as always comes into play on RedHawk. Sungazing House, a LEED Platinum & Green Home of the Year National Award Winner

This net-zero, LEED Platinum project has been featured all over the world in such places as Green Builder Magazine and EcoHome Magazine. 

Green Builder gave it a Grand Award, NAHB gave it a Project of the Year Award, and USA Today featured it on This Week’s Green House.  It’s also the first LEED Platinum home in Utah.

The construction includes 12.5″ thick Premier SIPs walls, airtightness below 0.6 ACH at 50 Pascals, quadruple-glazed Serious windows, and a 16-inch concrete wall with a custom phase-change wax to increase the wall’s thermal mass.

Sungazing House was built by Tall Pines Construction, designed by Jean Yves Lacroix, and enhanced with the energy expertise of Heliocentric.

Pioneer Style Meets Industrial Loft

By using recycled wood, careful proportions and by keeping the old time outbuilding intact, this home looks like it belongs in its long settled pioneer neighborhood, while at the same time it promises to have some surprises inside.

Initially it reflects a feeling of a comfortable old farmhouse with a big farmhouse kitchen, but the polished stainless steel appliances and rangehood counter being too old fashioned.

The visible conduits, ducting, and industrial lights echo an industrial loft, and the bricks and flooring support the loft imagery. The floors were salvaged from a Midwest sewing factory and seriously rubbed down and scraped by the homeowner.

1920's Mining Shack becomes LEED Gold Certified Efficient Custom Home

Some might say this is a home with a split personality. Originally built in the 1920s as a mining shack, it manages to stay true to its roots. With its original wood floors, siding, roofing and turn-of-the-century fireplace, the old part of the house retains its funky style.

The addition blends the latest in design, comfort and technology with design, comfort and technology with energy-efficient construction. Its clean lines, metal railings, walnut floor and beautiful tile countertops are a delight to the senses. 

Tall Pines Construction built this home to the latest NAHB Green Building Standards. Designed by Park City architect Bill Mammen and interior designer Kay Mammen.


Johnson Residence

"We are vodka tonic fans, however this should be a beer and wine house." This was our introduction to the clients and their aspirations. We thought, why not have the best of both worlds? The result is a stylishly functional home, simple in it's complexity, great for entertaining and retreating alike.

The home is highly sustainable for comfort and function sake. It employs passive heating and cooling strategies, a geothermal system, a photovoltaic array, a super-insulated non-thermal-bridging envelope, and quad pane windows.

Olympus Cove Home

In the Olympus Cove neighborhood of Salt Lake City one runs into a dilemma... one that an architect loves to have: to the east towers the majestic Mount Olympus adorned with shrub oak and mountain mahogany; down to the west the serene Salt Lake Valley lays before you hemmed in by the Oquirrh mountains wearing a sunset crown.  East? West?  Where do you focus?  Where do you nestle your chair?

On top.  The home's rooftop deck offers a 360 degree panorama that includes the Wastach mountain range, the Oquirrh mountains, the Great Salt Lake, and down town Salt Lake City.

To enhance the view on the interior, the roof line starts low and flat and gradually increases its incline, swooping up and out toward the city view.

Viewing decks off the living spaces nestle into trees to offer a shaded alternative to the roof deck.

On the interior, spaces are defined by volumes rather than walls.  The kitchen, livingroom, and office spatial divisions are created by a wood slatted stair well.  The master bathroom is separated from the closet by an outdoor bathing court.  The family room is separated from the patio by a fully glazed sun room.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter where you sit.  Every seat in the house is the best.

A Remodel to Inspire: the Unexpected Mountain ‘Mod’ Makeover

Nestled in lower Deer Valley, this home was originally constructed in 1989 with a traditional mountain rustic concept in mind. It has been completely transformed into a stunning modern masterpiece and was featured in the August 2013 the Showcase of Homes.

Working as a team, Tall Pines Construction and Interior Designers Linda Ashton and Brenda Fellinger, formed a collaborative coalition to create “the unexpected”. Each room has been beautifully furnished to compliment form and function. With cabinetry forged of cold-rolled steel by Ray Bird Designs, incredible artisan faux painting treatments by Jeanie Garison, hand-forged custom light fixtures designed by Cora Stjernholm, a five-foot wide pivot hinge entry door, impressive steel fabrication and a gourmet kitchen sure to impress, you will not be disappointed with the unique features that can’t be seen in any other home.
