The Gully House: A LEED Platinum Remodel in Park City, Utah

With a LEED Platinum certification, the Gully House remodeled by our team at Tall Pines Construction, is a shining example of the benefits of blending custom design with sustainable building practices.

Luxurious bathrooms, cozy bedrooms, livable outdoor space, and exquisite design blend together seamlessly in the Gully House custom home remodel. But what if we told you that all this luxury was also sustainable? Well, this home is built to be sustainable and LEED Platinum certified, meaning it’s the highest level of eco-friendly building. Our team at Tall Pines Construction takes pride in our ability to balance function, luxury, and sustainability, and the Gully House located in beautiful Park City, Utah, is a shining example of our expertise. With repurposed antique European doors throughout the house (we practically built the home around the doors, creating custom door jams that would allow us to keep the original hardware,) the imported and repurposed butcher block in the kitchen and fireplace surround, the Gully House was a delightful opportunity to blend old and new.

The Gully House Project: A Sustainable Transformation

Few homes are as delightfully customized as the charming Gully House, a project we completed in Park City, Utah. This home features some of our most innovative work, not just in design and execution but in our sustainability efforts. Park City is known for its outdoor recreation; whether skiing on Olympic-class slopes or hiking through beautiful mountains, it’s the perfect place for outdoor enthusiasts to build or remodel their custom homes. By bringing the outdoors in, the Gully House is a striking example of how our team at Tall Pines Construction blends ingenuity and innovation to create a truly unique and customized home.

Sustainable Design and LEED Certification

LEED certification stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and it is the standard measurement builders worldwide use to gauge their projects’ energy efficiency and sustainability. While any level of LEED certification indicates a profound dedication to sustainability, several LEED certification levels exist. Think of LEED Certification as a grade—simply by taking the “test,” you’ve earned some points, which is a basic LEED certification (earning between 40 and 49 points).

Then there is the LEED Silver certification (50-59 points), LEED Gold certification (between 60-79 points), and finally LEED Platinum certification (80 points or above). Points are earned with every decision made in the building process; the more sustainable, energy-efficient, or environmentally friendly, the more points you receive. Receiving a LEED Platinum certification indicates that the Gully House is an exemplary project showcasing true dedication to eco-friendly design.

Luxurious Bedrooms and Relaxing Bathrooms

Sometimes, especially for those unfamiliar with sustainable design, the assumption is that an eco-friendly home will be cold, uninviting, and sterile. Nothing could be further from the truth, especially in the Gully House.

Relaxing Bedrooms With Natural Light

The bedrooms feature plenty of natural light and wood floors, giving the space a welcoming and relaxing feel. With antique lighting and easy access to the outside porch, this primary bedroom is a lovely example of blending warmth and sustainability.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living Experience

Considering that this home is nestled in the mountains of Park City, we knew that we needed to create a home where the beauty of the outdoors was easily accessible.

Green Roof And Outdoor Living

The green roof is not only an added outdoor living space, but green roofs are excellent for sustainability, reducing heat flux from the roof to the building by up to 72%. With easy access to the outdoor living spaces, this home blends the line between inside and outside.
